FOURNOS: Converting Fly Ash into Basalt Tiles
FOURNOS, the smaller of the two projects, focuses on repurposing waste materials like fly ash, sludge, and shredder residues into a remarkable substitute for basalt. Basalt, a volcanic rock widely used in various applications, is primarily imported from distant countries like China and Norway, resulting in significant carbon emissions during transportation and environmental harm from mining. To address this issue, we’ve introduced the CORE Magma installation, capable of transforming waste materials into a safe and viable basalt substitute. The challenge lies in developing this replacement while ensuring it meets the necessary properties such as pressure sensitivity, hardness, and crystal structure, all while preventing the release of harmful substances. FOURNOS underscores our commitment to effective waste management and minimizing the environmental impact of basalt extraction.
MAGMA: Innovating Eco-Friendly Construction Materials
MAGMA, the larger and more ambitious sibling, builds upon FOURNOS’s success. It introduces an elegant solution by converting fly ash into basalt tiles, offering both environmental conscientiousness and aesthetic appeal. This innovation not only contributes to sustainable construction materials but also demonstrates the potential of turning waste into valuable resources. MAGMA serves as a testament to our belief in the circular economy, where waste is transformed into a valuable asset.
FOURNOS and MAGMA epitomize CORE’s mission to innovate and engineer solutions for urgent environmental challenges. They provide a glimpse into a future where waste materials are transformed into resources, thereby contributing to a more sustainable world.
Join us at CORE in our mission to innovate, educate, and engineer for a cleaner, more sustainable world. Together, we can lead the way in pioneering sustainable waste solutions.
